We love staying at this hotel, we have been loyal guests for years and for a reason. The staff is so friendly and kind, the food is fantastic, the rooms are luxurious and the position in town is very convenient. It is truly a special place, and an amazing experience. They put thought into everything, down to leaving a welcome note and snacks in your room before you arrive. Everything is immaculate and spotless - there is no concern at all regarding the cleanliness of the hotel. True luxury in the Karoo. Even when they were busy, they made efforts to make us comfortable. When the restaurant was busy on the 1st of January, they offered us a seat at the bar with complimentary bubbles. They really do go the extra mile to make you feel at home, away from home. We are picky travellers, and we could not recommend this wonderful hotel enough. A big thank you to the team for starting our 2025 on such a high note.

The staff was exceptionally nice, the restaurant was very good and they have a lovely wine selection! We were surprised by the staff with a bottle of Brut in our room, after we returned from our dinner, as we were on our honeymoon. Handwritten notes from the staff and flowers on the bed; those things really make your stay memorable! The room itself was big, the bed was super comfortable (I think the most comfortable we’ve had in South Africa) and the overall atmosphere was lovely. The architecture and interior design of the whole accommodation makes you feel like your in a historic Dutch town (for the Dutchmen amongst us: it’s quite like Arnhem’s Openluchtmuseum). Additionally, we felt safe in the town, which is not the case in every place when you’re travelling to SA. I would highly recommend a stay in this hotel!

The first night we had a bit of a whoopsie with our meal. BUT the action of both hotel and restaurant staff to apologize and correct the issue was beyond perfect. Problems happen but the measure is how they are corrected that counts. We were particularly impressed with the level of training given to staff at every level The interns and trainees were not treated as cheap labour or a nuisance but were being patiently shown how the job should be done. The Drosty should be used as the example of how training should and can be done. They work with the South African College for Tourism

One of South Africa's must visit country hotels. Whenever I can (and can afford it), I stay over at this lovely hotel in Graaff-Reinet - summer or winter. Be sure to explore the buildings and try the cigar lounge, which has an excellent collection of books. The restaurant is excellent, at times they have wines in the cellar that are hard to source elsewhere (apart from Franschhoek). Small art gallery and wine shop attached to the hotel. Other nice little restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.

Good and large hotel. The rooms are grouped per building and each 'group' has an own swimming pool which is great as it makes it less crowded. Rooms are comfortable, bathroom pretty and everything you need is available. We used the spa, which had limited availability so I would recommend booking in advance. Inhouse restaurant with good food and great service. We initially booked for one night but because we enjoyed our stay extended it with one additional night. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
